ABOUT GOAL #366

  • Hold free Preparing for the 4th Trimester parenting classes in Churches, women centers, WIC offices, birth centers, etc., to pregnant mothers in low income/marginalized communities.
    • Offer incentives to get attendance – free diapers, breastfeeding products, baby clothes, swaddles, etc.
  • Offer low cost or free Postpartum Doula Services to mothers after the baby is born and home from the hospital.
    • We will support mother at home with weekly visits.
    • We will educate the mother on baby needs, best feeding practices, breastfeeding, safety, safe sleep, bathing, bonding, soothing, understanding brain development, understanding baby cues, etc.
    • We will make sure the mother is recovering, look for warning signs of postpartum mood disorders, watch for excessive bleeding, help her to transition.
    • We will offer resources to other agencies/clinics for postpartum care, baby care, self-care, breastfeeding problems, or any medical issues.
  • Full first year check-ins
    • We will continue to monitor mother and baby for a full year through this program.
    • Visits are as followed:
      • First month after birth – 9-12 visits / 3-4 hours per visit
      • Second month after birth 6-8 visits / 1-2 hours per visit
      • Third to Six months after birth 4-5 visits / 1-hour visits
      • Seven to Twelve months after birth 1-3 / 1-hour visits.
      • Mother exits the program after the first year (goal 366).
    • We will record each visit, with mother’s mood, baby mood, how baby is developing, doctor notes, feeding, baby growth, any warning signs, etc., offer resources if needed.
    • Mother will be encouraged to attend free weekly support group.
  • Motherhood Huddle Café Support Group
    • All mothers will have the opportunity to attend weekly support meetings.
    • Meetings will cover breastfeeding support, emotional support, tips for caring for baby, peer to peer support, group discussions.
